Aligarh: The team of Md Raiyan Faridy and Azeem Khan Ahmad from AMU ABK High School emerged the first prize winner in a creative quiz competition, ‘Vacciknow Trivia’, organized by the Department of Microbiology, JN Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with the Hospital Infection Society India, Aligarh Chapter and American Society for Microbiology JNMC Student Chapter.
The team of Naitik Singh Rajput and Sai Tejas from the St Fidelis School won the second prize while the third prize went to the team of Mohammed Haris Khan and Numan Khan from AMU ABK High School.
Appreciating the efforts of the organizers, the chief guest, Prof Asfar Ali, Director, Directorate of School Education at AMU, said that even though technology is important for us, the school students should keep a watch on limited use of mobile phones and try to give a break of at least one day a week to these gadgets.
Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, the Faculty of Medicine and the Principal and CMS in JN Medical College, congratulated the organizers and the participants and emphasized the significance of infection control practices.
The guest of honour, Prof Haris M Khan, Former Principal and CMS, JNMC, said that we should keep ourselves protected from infectious diseases and must follow simple steps like maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Prof Nazish Fatima, Chairperson, the Department of Microbiology emphasized the role of infection prevention in our daily lives.
Prof Fatima Khan, Patron, ASM JNMC Student Chapter, along with the Co-host and Vice President, Samardeep Singh Saluja conducted the quiz online on the Kahoot platform with 75 teams of higher class students of various Aligarh schools participating in the competition. The 6-round quiz competition focused on various aspects of infectious diseases, their prevention and vaccination.
Arsalan, President, ASM JNMC Student Chapter formally opened the quiz earlier, while Prof Fatima Khan extended the vote of thanks.
The committee members of the ASM JNMC Student chapter, including Samardeep Singh Saluja, Muhammad Haris Khan, Areeb Shahid Rao, Sumaiya Reyaz and Ahmad Ali Siddiqui announced the upcoming newsletter and invited articles on the theme, ‘Microbes and Microbiology’.
