Aligarh: Fatima Zehra from AMU Girls School and Aanant Baghel from STS School bagged the first and second prizes respectively in an inter-school debate competition on the topic ‘Women’s Empowerment: A Dream Yet to be Realized’, as part of the Sir Syed Day celebrations.
Mohd Roohan from STS School and Mariyam Khan from AMU ABK High School Girls shared the third prize, while Areeba from Girls School received the consolation prize. Students from seven AMU Schools took part in the debate competition.
The judges’ panel included Dr Shyna Saif and Dr Sameera Khanam from the Department of Social Work, AMU.
On the occasion, Faisal Nafis, Principal and President of the Inter-School Debate Competition said such competitions are not merely about winning but about understanding, respect, and learning from diverse perspectives.
The event concluded with the medals and certificates being distributed to the winners and participants. Ghazala Tanvir conducted the programme, which was attended by teachers and students in large numbers.
