Aligarh: A total of 24 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Aligarh Muslim University have secured rank within the Top 1000 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering i.e. GATE examination, 2024, marking a significant jump compared to the last year when only nine students had secured rank among top 1000.

To celebrate this marked improvement and to appreciate the hard work behind this huge success, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology organized a felicitation event to encourage the successful students, who have set an example for other students who are preparing for the prestigious examination for the next year.

Prof M Salim Beg, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, stated that the GATE exam has now become an important milestone for Engineering professionals in our country and an important benchmark for them to get admission in PG courses at prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IITs, IIMs, etc., and for getting jobs in public sector companies.

He pointed out that our engineering students have now begun to realize the importance of the GATE exam and its usefulness, as an increasing number of students have been observed appearing and doing well in this examination.

On this occasion, AMU Registrar Mohammad Imran gave away the Letters of Appreciation, signed by the Dean Faculty of Engineering to all AMU students who secured a rank within the top 1000 in the GATE 2024.

Imran stressed the importance of such events and how they can even be a turning point in one’s career. Relating to his own experiences of appearing in competitive exams, he gave helpful suggestions to the students on how to come out with flying colours.

It is worth mentioning and praising that some departments and teachers go out of the way and conduct lectures to coach the GATE aspirants. Some departments have established the Quality Improvement Programme Centre and several of them are preparing to start such centres to facilitate heightened preparation for their faculty members and students in their respective fields.

The award of 5G Lab to the Department of Electronics Engineering, the award of a huge National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations i.e. NIDHI project to two staff members of the Faculty of Engineering and the award of another R&D project related to sustainable development are examples of our stride towards attaining excellence, he added.

The Principal of Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Prof MM Sufyan Beg urged the students to participate in larger numbers in this examination in coming years.
