Aligarh: The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension at Aligarh Muslim University organized an extramural lecture on “Education and Personality Development”.
Delivering the lecture, Prof Mohd Pervez, former Chairperson, the Department of Education and former Director, CCAEE, said that personality is the total of an individual’s behaviour in social situations. Behaviour includes not only overt acts but also inverted feelings produced by social situations. Referring to the definitions given by JF Dashiell, and JP Guilford, he said that hereditary and environmental factors are very important including family, cultural and social environment in shaping the personality.
He also stressed the role of education in personality development, urging the students to remain positive, develop new interests, pay attention to body language, and be supportive of good deeds.
Dr. Shamim Akhtar, Director of CCAEE welcomed the speaker and the audience. He stressed that education creates self-confidence, a positive outlook, ethics and values. He also proposed a vote of thanks.
