किसी भी देश की शिक्षा व्यवस्था में उच्च शिक्षा एक महत्वपूर्ण स्तंभ होती है। उस स्तंभ का आधार, उस देश की संस्कृति, मूल्य एवं संस्कार ही होते हैं, जिनके अनुरूप छात्रों को उच्च शिक्षा प्रदान की जानी चाहिए। भारत में भारतीय शिक्षा नीति 2020 इसी आशा के साथ लाई गई थी कि इस नीति के क्रियान्वयन के पश्चात भारतीय शिक्षा में आमूलचूल परिवर्तन आएगा और भारत पुनः विश्वगुरु बनेगा, परंतु अभी तक ऐसा सम्भव नहीं हो पाया है।
