Lecture held on career opportunities in pharmaceutical industry

Aligarh: The Department of Pharmacology in JN Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University organized a lecture on ‘Drug Discovery and Career Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Industry’ by Dr Syed Mubarak Naqvi, a US-based Global Safety Officer for Immunology and Inflammation at Sanofi in New Jersey, under the Alig's Academic Enrichment Programme.

An alumnus of the JN Medical College, Dr Naqvi delved into the intricate journey of drug discovery and development. He provided insights into the various stages of the drug discovery process, from the very inception of a molecule in the laboratory to its transformation into a clinically effective drug.

He pointed out that drug discovery and development have changed over the past decade as deep knowledge of basic molecular and cellular science led to the discovery of more precise and target-oriented medicines.

Sharing his research work in immunology, he urged the postgraduate residents to take up opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, from scientific research, clinical development, medical affairs and drug manufacturing to data sciences.

Prof Syed Ziaur Rahman, Coordinator of AAEP and the Chairman of the department, welcomed the guest speaker, while Dr Jameel Ahmad proposed a vote of thanks.
