Symposium held on AI Impact on Medical Field


Aligarh: The Department of Amraz-e-Jild Wa Zohrawia in Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College at Aligarh Muslim University organized a national symposium on ‘Artificial Intelligence and its interventions in the medical field’.

The event, held at the AKTC auditorium, featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. Acinav Sahoo from Lady Harding Medical College of New Delhi, Dr. Tauseef Qamar from VIT Bhopal, Dr Om Prakash from CSIR Lucknow, and Dr Asim Rizvi of AMU.

The chief guest, former Vice Chancellor of AMU, Prof Tariq Mansoor highlighted AI's pivotal role in medical diagnosis and treatment and urged the medical professionals to undertake the future discourse on surgery and medicine, with special reference to the transformative potential of AI.

In his presidential remarks, AMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Gulrez underscored the AI’s relevance to upgrading the future course of all genres of medicine and its use as a tool for shaping the future of healthcare, especially in the fields of medicine and radiology.

The Organizing Chairman Prof Zamir Ahmad provided valuable insights into the potential implications of AI in Unani Medicine practice and research.

The Organizing Secretary Dr Mohammad Mohsin acknowledged the importance of human intelligence while recognizing AI as a necessity in the current technological landscape. He asserted that the future lies with the people who are AI-equipped professionals and they will surpass those who fail to recognize the significance of AI.

The guest speakers comprehensively elaborated on diagnostic aspects, therapeutics, drug development, newer drug indications, and research analysis, shedding light on the future trajectory of AI in medical practice and research.

Prof Firasat Ali, officiating Dean of Faculty of Unani Faculty, Prof Badrudduja Khan, Principal of AKTC, and around 130 delegates from different parts of the country participated in the symposium.

Dr. Mohammad Anas conducted the programme, while Dr. Sana Taufeeq played a key role in organizing the symposium as its convener.
