Teachers’ crucial role in shaping students’ future hailed

Aligarh: Teachers’ Day was celebrated at the departments, colleges and schools of Aligarh Muslim University with joy and enthusiasm.

Students from the Department of English organized a special event to celebrate Teachers’ Day, honouring their educators with heartfelt performances.

The event featured a group song by the students, including a rendition of ghazals performed by Sabeeha Kamal, Zainab, Nishant, Fatima Chishti, and Ana Rizvi, followed by a soulful poetry performance by Aiman Khan. The event was anchored by Farheen Sahban and Mariyam Khan.

Faculty members from the Department of English were in attendance and expressed their appreciation for the efforts of students, applauding the talent showcased throughout the event.

The Department of Modern Indian Languages organised a special programme to honour educators and their invaluable contributions to society. The event was presided over by Professor Satheesan, Chairperson, who lauded the role of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in shaping the observance of Teachers’ Day in India. Professor Satheesan highlighted teachers’ crucial role in shaping students’ futures and ensuring their success, emphasizing the need to recognize their unwavering dedication and passion for the profession.

The Chief Guest, Deep Jagdeep Singh, Sahitya Akademi awardee and renowned Punjabi translator reflected on the pivotal role parents play as the first and lifelong teachers, imparting essential life skills from speaking to navigating life.

Professor Kranti Pal, In-Charge of the Punjabi Section, expressed deep gratitude to his teachers, acknowledging the profound influence they had on his life. Similarly, Professor A Nujum, In-Charge of the Malayalam Section remarked that teachers’ guidance leaves a lasting impact on students, shaping their minds and lives.

Dr Taher H Pathan, In-Charge of the Marathi Section, convened the programme, while Dr Amina Khatun, In-Charge of the Bengali Section, proposed a vote of thanks.

Dr Tamilselven, In-Charge of the Tamil Section, Rafsal Babu, Dr Shakir Ahmad Naikoo, research scholars, students, and non-teaching staff attended the event.

The teachers were honoured and appreciated for their dedication and service at the teachers’ day programme held at AMU ABK High School Girls.

The Students’ Council organised the programme. A special assembly was conducted which featured speeches, songs, dance, and skits by the students. They decorated class boards with beautiful quotes on them.

Dr Saba Hasan, Vice Principal congratulated the teachers and appreciated the management by the students.

At Abdullah School, a special assembly was conducted to celebrate Teachers’ Day. The assembly was led by Nabiha, a student of Class 3.

Mahiba Mustafa from Class 5 and Daniya Khan from Class 4 delivered speeches in English, while Sharjeel Mohsin Qasmi from Class 2 delivered a speech in Urdu. Atiqa Fatima from Class 5 recited an Urdu poem dedicated to teachers, while Anaya Muzammil recited an English poem. The assembly also featured musical performances, including a Hindi song by a group of Class 5 students and an English poem recitation by a group of Class 3 students.

Superintendent Umra Zaheer concluded the programme by emphasizing the importance and value of teachers in the lives of students.
