Faculty members and students of various departments, centres and faculties joined the ‘World Environment Day’ celebrations with a slew of green activities across the Aligarh Muslim University. Cleaning drives, awareness programmes and tree plantations were some of the highlights of the day.

Winners donned Ms Farewell sashes and received bouquets, certificates and mementoes as teachers and students of other classes bid adieu to the Class X and XII students in two separate farewell parties at the Aligarh Muslim University Girls School.

Dr Astrid Ensslin from Norway’s University of Bergen, delved into digital culture and digital humanities—exemplifying how literary expression in digital-born media exceeds and subverts traditional notions of literature.

Renowned naturalist Dr Asad Rafi Rahmani, Former-Chairman Dept of Wildlife Sciences AMU and Former-Director Bombay Natural History Society, highlighted the role of women in wildlife conservation and shared stories of conservation initiatives taken by the women in India.

The department of Community Medicine, JNMC, AMU sent a team of 22 Post Graduates and three Medico-social workers to attend a lecture so that they can be sensitized on envisioning dietary diversification for every household by eliminating micronutrient deficiency and achieving an iron deficiency-free world through rice fortification.

In a yearly reminder about hand washing as one of the best steps to avoid getting sick and spreading germs; faculty members, resident doctors and students connected with the Hospital Infection Control Committee, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, the Hospital Infection Society - India, Aligarh Chapter and the Cultural Education Centre observed the ‘Global Hand Hygiene Day’.
