Five-day workshop held on Structural Gravity Model


Aligarh: The Department of West Asian and North African Studies at Aligarh Muslim University organized a five-day national workshop on “Structural Gravity Model: Theory, Estimation and Applications”.

In his presidential remarks, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez urged the faculty members to focus on promoting innovation-based research as it is one of the most important signifiers for a higher education institution to be ranked best on national and international levels.

The chief guest, Prof. Qazi Mazhar Ali, Former Dean, the Faculty of Science, shared anecdotes from his long teaching experience and emphasized the role of statistical inference in applied Research.

The guest of honor, Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi, Chairman, the Department of Economics, discussed the significance of interdisciplinary approaches in the study of West Asian and North African issues.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Mohammad Azhar, Dean, the Faculty of International Studies and chairman of the department, underscored the significance of the workshop in augmenting trade policy research and its wider applications.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, the Workshop Co-Coordinator, Dr. Sana Samreen presented an overview of the theme and objectives. Dr. Tariq Masood was the Workshop Coordinator.

Prof. Jawaid Iqbal extended a vote of thanks. Sana Noor conducted the programme.
