Aligarh: The Centre for Studies of Plural Societies’, Aligarh Chapter conducted its first research workshop titled “Outline of Making an Academic Argument” at the Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences, Aligarh, wherein selected interns were told how to excel in the field of academics.
Conducting the workshop Dr. Javed Iqbal Wani, Assistant Professor, School of Law, Governance & Citizenship, Dr. BR Ambedkar University, New Delhi, and Head of Research and Publication at the CSPS, New Delhi, interacted with the interns and demonstrated how proper research training can help in excelling in academics.
The focus of the internship is to provide guidance to the students on how to excel in the field of academics.
The session was moderated by Parvez Alam, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Aligarh Muslim University.
The workshop was attended by a large number of students and research scholars from Aligarh Muslim University, pursuing research in subjects like Political Science, Public Administration, Islamic Studies, Economics, English, History, Geography, West Asia, and Philosophy.
The workshop was followed by an orientation lecture and interaction with the first batch of interns of the CSPS Aligarh Chapter. The interns underwent a rigorous selection process.
CSPS has undertaken a giant task to support graduate studies of the underprivileged across institutions and universities in India and strives to offer opportunities for learning from local and global plural experiences.
“Students of diverse backgrounds of language, regions, and social affiliations from Indian universities have been provided research supervision and academic and career guidance,” said Dr. Wani, adding that the Centre has successfully involved some of the leading academicians and scholars of social and political sciences, media and cultural studies, gender studies, peace and conflict studies, international relations and area studies, strategic and security studies, film and literature studies, society in technology, and cybersphere studies.
He further informed that CSPS is an independent, non-profit, educational, and research training center. It aims to train young minds to respect or be open to diverse ideas, frameworks, approaches, and concepts while engaging with the knowledge or its production.
“CSPS believes that the space for meaningful dialogue is the only way to an empowered citizenry. It aims to offer training and support in the spirit of a nuanced and analytical approach, and objective, method-based scientific research on all issues that arise or are at stake in a pluralistic society like India”, he concluded.
