Aligarh: The Department of Electrical Engineering at Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, inaugurated a two-week Industrial Training Program on ‘Recent Advancements in Solar and Wind Energy Systems for Sustainable Development’, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Science & Technology.
The program, coordinated by Dr Sheeraz Kirmani, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, is funded through his R&D grant of Rs.1.27 Crores.
The inaugural session was graced by Saurabh Dalela, Director, ICAT, Ministry of Heavy Industry, as the Chief Guest, with Prof Mohd Gulrez, Former Vice-Chancellor, AMU, presiding over the event.
Prof Yusuf Uzzaman Khan, Chairman, the Department of Electrical Engineering, welcomed the gathering, while Dr Sheeraz Kirmani provided insights into the training program’s objectives. Prof Mohd Muzammil, Principal, ZHCET, and Prof Nesar Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, highlighted the significance of renewable energy in addressing global sustainability challenges.
In his address, Prof Mohd Gulrez commended Dr Kirmani’s efforts in organizing the training on a critical contemporary issue. Saurabh Dalela underscored the need to bridge the gap between industry and academia and discussed emerging technologies in renewable energy and electrified transportation.
This two-week training program aims to equip participants with knowledge of cutting-edge advancements in solar and wind energy systems, promoting sustainable development and industry-academia collaboration.
