Interactive session held on career opportunities in UN


Aligarh: Addressing the resident students at Aligarh Muslim University, AKM Gulzar Hussain, Head of the Unit - Government Partnerships, United Nations World Food Programme, discussed the career opportunities within the United Nations, covering the organization's structure, functions, and diversity in its working.

He elaborated on the qualifications, skills, and competencies required for various positions, and shed light on the recruitment process and strategies while emphasizing the need for the candidates to stand out from the crowd by crafting their profile with the help of tailored applications and engaging proactively with different UN platforms.

He also highlighted the study abroad programmes that are open to international students and provided insights into the various scholarship opportunities, the eligibility criteria, the application procedure and resources for scholarship seekers.

Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Provost of the hall, Dr Shamim Akhtar highlighted the importance of raising awareness among students about career and scholarship prospects available in the global arena.

Jamil Hussain, a research scholar in the Department of English, conducted the programme, while Dr. Kaikubad Ali from the Department of Remote Sensing, extended a vote of thanks.
