Aligarh: The Faculty of Law at Aligarh Muslim University organised an Intellectual Property Rights awareness programme, conducted by the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission 2.0, under the initiative of ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mohatsav’.
The guest speakers were NIPAM coordinators, and members of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, Mansi Chaudhry and Ramsha Khan.
Welcoming the guest speakers, Prof Md. Zafar Mahfooz Nomani, Dean, Faculty of Law promised to organise many such IP and Innovation-related events and programmes in the future. Innovation and IP Society is being established at the Faculty of Law at AMU, consisting of office-bearer students, he said.
Mansi Chaudhry made a highly informative presentation on patents and design protection in India. She highlighted the growing interest in IP among the academic community. By giving an introduction to the IP ecosystem, Chaudhry shared her vast practical and theoretical knowledge about the Patents and Design related laws and procedures.
Ramsha Khan made a presentation on trademarks and Geographical Indications protection in India. She elaborated on how Trademarks are filed and what exactly are GIs, along with symbols and practical examples.
A highly popular part of the event was the animated videos shown by speakers on their respective topics, which gave an insight into the subject in a very creative way.
The programme was attended by Prof Mohd Ashraf, Chairman, Faculty of Law, AMU, along with faculty members and students in online and offline mode, who asked intriguing questions during the Question-Answer rounds.
Dr. Syed Mohammad Yawar, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law proposed a vote of thanks.
Dhruv Nagpal conducted the programme. The student coordinators included Mantasha Sultana, Nivesh Verma, Rushan Ahmad, Noorain Ansari, Aleema Nishat, Rhythm Sharma, and Anjum Sanjer.
