Aligarh: Prof Jawaid Iqbal, an eminent academic from the Department of West Asian Studies and North African Studies of Aligarh Muslim University, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Rajouri of Jammu.
Iqbal has taken over the charge of his office. His appointment was made by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on October 15, 2024, for tenure of three years.
Before this appointment, Prof Iqbal held several key administrative roles at AMU. He served as the Dean of the Faculty of International Studies and Chairman of the Department of West Asian and North African Studies. He also held the position of acting Vice Chancellor of AMU.
