Aligarh: In celebration of Hindi Diwas 2024, STS School at Aligarh Muslim University organized an event recently, showcasing the talents of its students through two major competitions: poetry recitation and debate.
The poetry recitation competition saw students express their love for Hindi, its challenges, and its future. Jatin Kumar Lodhi of Class 9A3 won first prize with a captivating performance. Mohd Ruhaan, also from Class 9A3, secured second place, while Lakshya Sharma, from the same class, claimed third.
The debate competition centred on the topic ‘Hindi Knowledge Provides Limited Opportunities’, and featured thought-provoking arguments from the participants. Anant Baghel (Class 10-A1) earned first place for his insightful and articulate presentation. Pratham Pathak (Class 11) took second place, and Keshari Nandan Gaur (Class 9A3) was awarded third.
The event, attended by students and staff, was presided over by Faisal Nafis, Principal of STS School. Chief Guest Prof Meraj Ahmed from the Hindi Department of AMU, encouraged students to embrace Hindi and master the language, noting its growing relevance in global platforms and employment opportunities.
The winners received medals and certificates, presented by the Chief Guest and Principal, who commended the students for their exceptional efforts and urged them to continue excelling.
Judges for the competitions included senior faculty members, Dr Md Alamgir and Samina Yusuf Khan. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Jyoti Kusumbal.
