Aligarh: The Department of Moalejat, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a one-day International Symposium on “Lifestyle and Metabolic Disorders” in online mode for Ayush and modern medical professionals, students, researchers and medical officers.
In his presidential remarks, AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Tariq Mansoor stressed the importance of managing lifestyle and metabolic disorders. Laying emphasis on the significance of collaborative work in this field, Prof Mansoor urged to organize a multidisciplinary academic event offline.
Prof. FS Sherani, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, stressed the need for spreading awareness regarding these disorders for their better management.
Prof. Tabassum Latafat, Chairperson, Department of Moalejat and Organizing Secretary, welcomed the guests and briefly highlighted the key issues in managing lifestyle and metabolic disorders.
Dr SM Raeesuddeen, Senior Lecturer, Institute of Indigenous Medicine, the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka, delivered a lecture on “Recognition of Hypertension in Unani Medicine, its Prevention and Management”, while Dr Hamid Ashraf, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, JNMC, AMU, spoke on “Diabetes: Know it to prevent it”.
Dr Mursaleen Naseer gave concluding remarks and discussed the key features of the symposium. Prof. BD Khan, Co-organizing Secretary, conducted the programme while Prof. Tanzeel Ahmad, Co-organizing Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
More than 200 faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate and undergraduate students attended the programme.
