Webinar held on Footwear Product Design and Development

Aligarh: The Fashion Design and Garment Technology section of the Community College at Aligarh Muslim University, organized a webinar titled ‘Stepping Stones of Footwear Product Design and Development’.

The event was coordinated by Nazia Begum and Shagufta Haseen and attracted participants from India and abroad. The webinar proved to be an enriching experience for all attendees, offering valuable knowledge on the intricacies of footwear design and development.

The resource person for the webinar Hafiz Obaidullah, a faculty member at the School of Footwear Design and Production from the Footwear Design and Development Institute of Noida, shared insights into the various aspects of footwear design and development. He discussed the importance of understanding foot dimensions, ergonomic factors, and consumer needs. He also addressed the significance of soles and insoles in footwear functionality and market demand.

Dr Mohd Yunus Khan, Course Coordinator for Fashion Design and Garment Technology and Convener of the webinar, elaborated on the practical needs, ergonomic considerations, and lifestyle preferences that influence footwear design and development.

In his inaugural address, Prof Arshad Umar, Nodal Officer of the Community College, emphasized that footwear is more than a fashion statement- it is a fusion of art, function, and innovation. He highlighted how the industry is continuously evolving, integrating traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to meet consumer demands.

Nazia Begum conducted the program and delivered the vote of thanks, while Shagufta Haseen introduced the resource person. Tazyin moderated the session and engaged in discussion.
