Amna earns prestigious recognition for her research paper

Aligarh: Amna Asim Khan, a first-year MA History student at the Aligarh Muslim University, secured third place in the Satyam Jha Paper Presentation Series held at St. Stephen’s College at the University of Delhi.

Her paper, ‘Beyond the Veil: Purdah Hospitals in Northwestern British India’, delved into the architectural and historical significance of purdah hospitals, established by female missionaries in British India’s North-Western regions. She explained how these institutions shaped gender dynamics, spatial boundaries, and identity during the colonial period.

Prof Hassan Imam, Chairperson and Coordinator of CAS in the Department of History, Prof Mohd Naved Khan, Coordinator of the Cultural Education Centre, and Prof Nazia Hasan, President, the University Debating and Literary Club, congratulated Amna for this accomplishment.
