Aligarh: The University Debating and Literary Club, Cultural Education Centre, Aligarh Muslim University organized a Mushaira, Sukhan Aabaad, in collaboration with Unsiyat at the Kennedy Auditorium.
A cross-section of poets from Aligarh and outside, including Sarfaraz Nawaz of Shibli College from Azamgarh, Prof Mohd Tahir, Dr. Sarwar Sajid, Alam Khurshid, Nitin Nayab, Imtiyaz Khan, Salman Saeed, Saif Irfan, Safar Naqvi, and Farheen Shakeel presented their poems.
Welcoming the guests, Prof. FS Sherani, Coordinator, CEC, said that this Mushaira is being held after a gap of about five years.
Guest of honor, Prof. Mohd Tahir, who inaugurated the Mushaira by lighting the lamp, along with Prof. Sarfaraz Nawaz, Prof. FS Sherani, and Dr. Sadaf Fareed, President, UDLC, said that such events go with the age-old cultural traditions of the university and have contributed in creating and nurturing talent among students. He said ‘Jo zarra yahan se uthta hai wo Nayyar e azam hota hai’ (The dust particles raising from this soil become lighting stars).
Earlier, Yasir Ali Khan, a Ph.D. scholar, welcomed the guests.
