Competitions held on media’s role in upholding constitutional ideals

Aligarh: The University Debating and Literary Club with Cultural Education Centre of Aligarh Muslim University, organized an Intra-University Debate Competition at the Kennedy Auditorium, Kennedy House Complex. The debate topic was ‘This house believes that the media in India is instrumental in upholding constitutional ideals’.

In the English category, Anirudh Saraswat secured the first prize, followed by Mohd Hashir and Arisha Malik, who won the second. Basrah Hasan Rizvi and Qayem Hussain bagged the third prize, while Yanis Iqbal received the consolation prize. In the Hindi category, Falak Naaz was awarded the Best Speaker prize. A total of 40 participants competed in the event.

Prof Nazia Hasan, President of UDLC, appreciated the participants' efforts, and Mohd Shams Uddoha Khan, Secretary, delivered the Vote of Thanks. Khadeeja conducted the program.

Additionally, an Essay Writing Competition was held on ‘The role of media in shaping public opinion’. In the English category, Anirudh Saraswat secured the first prize, followed by Alina Zeba Khan in second place. Maisha Alvi and Huma Siddiqui shared the third position.

In the Hindi category, Falak Raza, Priya Upadhyay, and Shazli Shafaque Rahman secured the first, second, and third prizes, respectively. Around 75 students participated.

Prof Mohd Naved Khan, Coordinator of the Cultural Education Centre, congratulated the winners and encouraged students to engage in literary activities organized by the Club.
