Aligarh: The Department of Education at Aligarh Muslim University, in partnership with the National Institute of Securities Markets, concluded a three-day Financial Literacy Programme, designed to equip students with fundamental knowledge of financial investments and securities markets.
The programme, held from September 14-16, was coordinated by Prof Mohd Abid Siddiqui. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Mujibul Hasan Siddiqui, Chairman of the Department of Education, with insightful sessions led by Dr Akeelurrehman, a key resource person from NISM.
Addressing the importance of financial literacy, Prof Mujibul Hasan Siddiqui emphasised that understanding investment strategies and navigating the securities market are essential skills in today’s dynamic financial environment. The programme offered students hands-on learning opportunities in areas such as financial planning, mutual funds, and the mechanics of primary and secondary markets.
Dr Akeelurrehman highlighted that the initiative reinforces AMU’s commitment to promote financial awareness among young learners, preparing them for sound financial decisions and bolstering their career potential in the expanding financial markets. The curriculum also covered the critical aspects of investment, identifying opportunities, exercising precautions, and exploring career paths within the financial sector, he added.
Prof Abid Siddiqui commended the participation of the students, noting their active engagement throughout the sessions. The program's emphasis on smart investment strategies and financial management skills reflects its practical value in shaping the financial futures of the students.
