Aligarh: The KA Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies at Aligarh Muslim University organized an online workshop for university and college teachers on “Teaching Islamic and Quranic Studies: Strategies and Prospects” who belonged to different universities and colleges, including the Kolkata University, Aliah University, University of Calicut, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Girls Degree College Shopian, Karamat Hussain Muslim Girls PG College of Lucknow, and English and Foreign Languages University of Hyderabad.

In his presidential address at the inaugural and first interactive session, Prof Md Qutbuddin from the Centre of Arabic and African Studies at JNU appreciated the idea of the workshop to explore the strategies for promoting the emerging discipline of Quranic studies across various disciplines in the university system. He highlighted the need for acquiring proficiency in local and vernacular cultures and languages.

In his presidential remarks at the second interactive session, Prof Syed Rashid Naseem from the Department of Arab Studies, English and Foreign Languages University of Hyderabad appreciated the programmes offered by the KA Nizami Centre at various levels, including the Four Year Undergraduate Programme, MA and PhD in Quranic Studies, and suggested areas to focus for further excellence in Quranic Studies.

In his welcome address, Prof Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director of KA Nizami Centre emphasized the need for the teachers and students of Islamic and Quranic studies to the wider world of contemporary skills, cultures and languages.

Dr Arshad Iqbal, Convener, and Dr Mohammad Aiyoob Akram conducted the interactive sessions. Dr Nazeer Ahmad Majeed extended a vote of thanks.
