Aligarh: The Centre for Integrated Green and Renewable Energy at Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering, IEEE WIE-AG & STB, and The Energy and Resources Institute, organised a workshop titled ‘Mission Life: Green and Clean Energy’.
The event, funded by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, aimed to raise awareness about sustainable energy practices.
The Chief Guest PK Bhattacharya, Senior Fellow at TERI EIACP, spoke on the significance of the Mission Life Campaign and the importance of green energy.
The keynote speech was given by Prof Nesar Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, who discussed global environmental challenges and highlighted AMU’s dedication to research and innovation in sustainable energy.
Prof Abu Tariq, Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering, encouraged active contributions to sustainable development from students and faculty. He also delivered an expert lecture on Rooftop Solar PV Plants, net metering, and Solar Farms.
Pallavi Shukla, Senior Programme Officer at TERI discussed practical energy conservation measures, while Akif Farooqui, Projects Manager at TERI, recommended additional steps for adopting greener practices.
AMU Public Relations Officer Omar Peerzada addressed AMU’s role in promoting clean energy, stressing the importance of research and community outreach in addressing national and global energy concerns.
Dr Safia Akhtar Kazmi, Convener of the workshop and Coordinator of CGRE delivered the welcome address, outlining the goals of the event and plans.
Faculty members, including Prof Asfar Ali Khan, Prof Fazle Azeem and Prof Imtiaz Ashraf engaged with TERI experts during the workshop. An interactive session allowed students to explore internship and job opportunities, as well as TERI's sustainability programme.
The workshop's organizing team led by Sameera, Dr Qurratulain, and Dr Faizan Khalid, along with IEEE WIE-AG & STB members played a crucial role in making the event a success. M.Tech students specializing in Green Energy and Sustainable Development also contributed significantly.
The event concluded with a pledge led by Pratiksha, Information Officer at TERI-EIACP, in which all participants committed to creating a cleaner and greener world.
